When we got to the Visual Effects lab I thought that we were only going to see the projects in progress. But the students all had completed their videos! We got to watch them on the large monitor on the wall for extra effect.
Similar to the design class I was impress at how different each spot looked in comparison with the others. Great work.

After visiting the Video Production class I couldn’t wait to see what the Visual Effects studio was up to. Again working in video they recorded Kellee and her dancers on the green screen and now were taking their footage into the editing room. Their goal is to create a 15 second commercial that would be used on TV or the web.

The students are working in Adobe After Effects to remove the green screen and add their own graphics to the spot. This class similar to video need to select the right footage, edit it down, and add effects to the spot to give it the right touch.

After viewing the work in progress I knew Kellee would be amazed to see how cool these videos looked. Remember they only took the footage the day before. I was impressed.

After recording three of Kellee’s songs in the TV studio the day before. The Video Production students are ready to capture the footage and get to work. The three songs they are working with are Champions, Future Music and Mothership. Again I was impressed to see how different each project looked when working with similar footage.
Talking with instructor Doug Kennedy I learned that the students used a multi-camera setup for the live shoot. Meaning they were able to record multiple angles during the shoot. Now the students using their own footage are editing to fit the prerecorded song.

Skipping from one recording studio to another we left the TV studio and headed for the digital recording lab to shoot against the green screen. The Visual Effects & Motion Graphic students were waiting to record more video with Kellee and her dance team.

Their goal wasn’t to make a music video but rather a 15 second commercial. However, similar to the Digital Filmmaking & Video Production students they are starting from scratch. Again I wasn’t able to get photos of the recording process so if anyone has some let me know. Here is a photo of the digital lab.
