7.08.10 Game Art & Design – Game Concepts

The Game Art & Design class had been busy the night before. Each student developed their own concept for a game that would feature Kellee. There was everything from Guitar Hero style games to science fiction heroine adventures. Some of the ideas were really good so I encourage you guys to peruse them.

In the classroom the group was working in teams to complete a game level. Some were modeling and others creating 3D environments in the Unreal Engine.

7.07.10 More Modeling in Game Art & Design

There was a lot of activity in the Game Art & Design classroom and I don’t mean shooting space invaders. The students were working in 3D Studio Max to create shapes and model them.

Specifically the students were using a simple object, a milk carton, to learn the software. In order to get your texture just right you need to unwrap the model and apply graphics. When making a video game you need to do this for every object in the whole game. Seems like a daunting task but I know they were up to the challenge as they completed game environments over the next few days.

6.30.10 Modeling with Game Art & Design

Our final stop of the day was back in the computer lab with Game Art & Design. While there were a lot of Kellee themed game ideas to come later in the week the students were learning how to create models and renderings.
