7.08.10 Fashion Outfits the Archetypes

Fashion

Our first stop was in the Fashion classroom. The students had put a lot of energy into finding the right styles for each of Kellee’s five archetypes. Not being a fashion expert myself I was really interested to see how they approached the project.

The class did a great job of finding styles that 1. fit each of Kellee’s archetypes and 2. were styles that she thought would work for her personally. I was very impressed that the class could, through a short interview, really understand Kellee’s style and taste. It was obvious that they had put a lot of thought into what she wears and how she would wear it, on and off the sage.

7.07.10 Fashion Trend Watchers

When I went to find the fashion students I was worried I’ve have to trek to Macy’s. They weren’t in their classroom and the other instructors hadn’t seen hide nor hair. Luckily I found them in library using the computers and discussing the latest in Pittsburgh fashion trends.

Suze had the students all over town meeting with store owners and investigating merchandising and solicitation. Using her own custom bag she was demonstrating how fashion designers can meet with store owners, look up the latest trends, and sell their designs.

The students were doing their own trend watching not only downtown but on the South Side. They are working to find the right look for Kellee’s different archetypes and are going to make boards with their findings.

6.28.10 Fashion Meets Kellee

On Tuesday morning we got off to an early start with the Fashion students. This is the first time anyone is meeting our featured artist, Kellee Maize. Suz Pisano the fashion faculty member, coincidentally, has worked with Kellee before designing her “Princess of Pittsburgh” outfit.

The group gets off to a great start discussing Kellee’s different musical personas and how she relates to each of them. The students are planning to outfit Kellee for each of her personas, so understanding the dynamic of each one is important.

Suz gives the students an overview of fashion in the world and they prepare to take one of their many field trips around Pittsburgh.
